When to hinge your wrist is critical. Many call it loading up at the top of the swing which answers the question "when?". If you hinge your wrists too early in the back swing you will release your wrists too early. The fix is a simple one. Hinge your wrists at the 12 o'clock position and unhinge them at the 6 o'clock position.
At set up, the back of your forward hand should face toward the target. When you unhinge your wrists at the bottom of the forward swing or the 6 o'clock position, the back of the forward hand should once again be facing toward the target.
This will allow the club head to release down the target line.
