Field Goal Drill

If 70% of putts are from inside 10 feet then 30% are from outside 10 feet. In order to make longer putts you must start the ball on the correct line.

Spot putting helps by giving you a target 8-12 inches in front of the ball. Roll the ball over the spot to start it on the target line.

A drill to help with this is the field goal drill. Place two tees in the ground approximately 10 inches in front of your ball along the target line. The tees should be three inches apart.

The goal is to putt the ball between the two tees which ensures you start out on the target line. If the speed is right the putt should roll in the cup.
